Styled letters are not a font applied to ordinary text. Search, screen readers, copy operations and unsupported fonts may treat them differently, so keep essential information in standard lettering.

Where it comes from

Why these characters exist

Enclosed Alphanumerics, from U+2460. The block was encoded for list markers and reference numbering in East Asian typesetting, long before anyone used it for usernames.

What the set is missing

Letters run cleanly from U+24B6 uppercase and U+24D0 lowercase. The digits are the awkward part: 1 to 9 sit at U+2460 onward but zero lives separately at U+24EA, so a naive conversion tends to lose it.

Before you paste it

Where circled letters break down

Well supported and generally safe. The circles reduce effective letter size, so a circled word set small becomes hard to read before it becomes hard to render. Screen readers announce these by their Unicode names or skip them, so a styled word can be read out character by character or lost entirely. Search and copy-paste also stop matching the plain spelling.

You can convert your own text into this and every other set with the fancy text generator.

Common questions

Using circled letters

What is circled letters?

Enclosed alphanumerics — each character sits inside a circle. Playful headers, numbered lists and profile decoration.

Is circled letters a font or real text?

It is real text. Each letter is a separate Unicode character from U+24B6 – U+24E9, so the styling travels with the text instead of depending on a font the reader may not have. That also means screen readers and search may not read the characters as ordinary letters, so keep the plain version nearby when the words carry meaning.

Will circled letters work everywhere?

Styled letters are not a font applied to ordinary text. Search, screen readers, copy operations and unsupported fonts may treat them differently, so keep essential information in standard lettering.

Can I customise circled letters after copying?

You can add a short label, repeat compatible symbols or trim the design to fit. Keep important spaces, line breaks and uncommon Unicode characters intact while editing.
