Where it comes from

Why these characters exist

Halfwidth and Fullwidth Forms, from U+FF00. Chinese, Japanese and Korean text is set on a square grid, and these exist so Latin letters can occupy a full cell instead of half of one.

What the set is missing

Complete for letters and digits. Because the characters are genuinely wide rather than spaced, the effect survives being copied — unlike typing a space between every letter.

Before you paste it

Where fullwidth letters break down

A fullwidth word takes roughly twice the horizontal room, so it wraps early and can overflow a fixed-width field. In CJK text it is a legitimate typographic choice rather than decoration, which is worth knowing before using it as an aesthetic. Screen readers announce these by their Unicode names or skip them, so a styled word can be read out character by character or lost entirely. Search and copy-paste also stop matching the plain spelling.

You can convert your own text into this and every other set with the fancy text generator.

Common questions

Using fullwidth letters

What is fullwidth letters?

Wide CJK-width Latin letters, the signature vaporwave look. Vaporwave titles, playlist names and retro captions.

Is fullwidth letters a font or real text?

It is real text. Each letter is a separate Unicode character from U+FF21 – U+FF5A, so the styling travels with the text instead of depending on a font the reader may not have. That also means screen readers and search may not read the characters as ordinary letters, so keep the plain version nearby when the words carry meaning.

Will fullwidth letters work everywhere?

Styled letters are not a font applied to ordinary text. Search, screen readers, copy operations and unsupported fonts may treat them differently, so keep essential information in standard lettering.

Can I customise fullwidth letters after copying?

You can add a short label, repeat compatible symbols or trim the design to fit. Keep important spaces, line breaks and uncommon Unicode characters intact while editing.
